I AM WHO I WANT TO BE...
I GO WHERE I WANT TO GO...
I turn it up LOUD... and I like to go FAST!!!!
Krista Marie was born into a musical family in Western New York State. Her mom taught voice and piano lessons and found time to perform in local choral and theater groups. Her dad was a world renowned classical accordionist and an accomplished pianist. At a very young age, Krista began performing at school, joined the children's choir in church, won statewide vocal and dance competitions and competed in 4H horse shows. As a teen, her love of music and horsepower continued to go hand in hand. Working summers at the local theme park as a country singer/dancer, Krista Marie managed to save enough money to buy her first motorcycle. She also tried her hand at racing mini stock cars, snowmobiles and, eventually, ATV's.
After studying musical theater, dance and voice in NYC, Krista moved west to L.A. where she earned her membership in the Screen Actors Guild appearing in various film, television and commercial productions. Krista went on to become a certified stunt woman, while continuing to focus on her songwriting.
Determined to make music a full time endeavor, Krista relocated to Nashville in 2003. After writing and self-producing her first independent project, she was signed by noted artist manager, television and event producer Marc Oswald of Dale Morris & Associates, who has guided the careers of Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich and others. He believes Krista's musical talents and background in the motorsports world will offer her amazingly unique opportunities. In fact, "Drive It Like I Stole It", which she co-wrote and performed, will be the official ESPN, NHRA Drag Racing theme song for the 2009 season.
Gary Overton, at EMI Publishing, was quick to sign Krista Marie to a publishing deal in Nashville in 2007. "Krista is such an incredible talent. She is everything that a music executive wants in a new artist. She is young, has a great voice, shows tremendous stage energy, looks like a model, writes hit songs and outworks everyone in her organization. This girl is going to be a superstar. I'm proud to represent her at EMI Music Publishing, where she joins the ranks of other great EMI artists like Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Beyonce, Sting, John Mellencamp, Pink and many others."
In 2008, Krista secured an exclusive recording agreement with Holeshot Records, a newly formed imprint of Broken Bow Records where the careers of Craig Morgan and Jason Aldean were launched. The label also recently released the new debut solo album of legendary country group Alabama lead singer Randy Owen. "Krista Marie is one of the most talented female artists I have ever had the pleasure to experience and is an exciting addition to the BBR family," said Broken Bow Executive Vice President Jim Yerger. "I am confident that with Krista's tireless work ethic and the fantastic Holeshot/BBR team, 2009 and beyond will be a great ride."
"Music and racing are so much alike," explains Krista. "You are only as good as the team that backs you. For success in music, you depend on the lighting and sound professionals, the road crew, managers, record label, producer, publisher, band members and co-writers. In racing, it is the pit crew, mechanics and trainers who help keep you out front." She also states that the stage and the starting line are the two special places that hold her heart. "There is an adrenaline rush like no other when you are on stage and hear the screaming fans as the lights go up, or when the race gate is about to drop and you are side by side with your fellow racers who all want to make it to that checkered flag FIRST."
In the spring of 2008, Krista had a near fatal crash while racing the ATVA National Motocross Circuit. No one, including her doctors, expected her to be able to heal fully enough in 6 weeks to headline in her debut concert at Loretta Lynn's Ranch during the MX National Championships. Krista impressed everyone with her determination and accomplishment. "I like beating the odds and I never give up. Victory is so sweet?even if it is only for your own achievement.
Hit making producer, Ted Hewitt comments, "Krista Marie has that rare combination of talent, drive and beauty that made me excited about working with her. Little more than two weeks after her devastating, life threatening ATV wreck in which she broke 11 bones, including a femur, she was climbing the stairs to my studio ready to sing her heart out. Nothing can stop this girl from big time success. On top of all that, she's a really great person."
Currently, Krista is preparing to hit the road in the 'Holeshot X-Press.' This 70-foot rig will be filled with her band gear PLUS her toys (motorcycles, ATVs and dirt bikes) and her puppy, Bella...She'll be coming to a city near you! "I've never really considered myself outstanding at anything. I live my life working very hard and trying to always do my best while having some fun at the same time..." This performer loves traveling, meeting new people, visiting with good friends, and enjoying great food. She admits, "If I am grumpy, just feed me!"
