LeAnn Rimes has made the rare transition from child prodigy to seasoned artist. Few in popular music can rival her in terms of critical acclaim or commercial success. She has sold more than 37 million records, won two Grammys and received numerous industry awards, spent countless hours helping children and veterans, and established herself as a household name. What's most impressive, though, is that with all she has accomplished LeAnn is just twenty-three years old. Clearly she is just warming up.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, she showed signs of talent as a singer when she was just two years old. By age five she had won her first talent contest, with a performance of "Getting to Know You" that showcased her dancing as well as vocal skills. Shortly after that LeAnn moved with her family to Garland, Texas, where she auditioned for and nearly won the title role in the Broadway production of Annie II. Her momentum built over the next several years, as she performed the role of Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol in Dallas at age seven and won national attention as winner for two consecutive weeks on Star Search at age eight.
