August 1, 2007 When Alan Jackson invited USA Today to tour his home recently, he warned, "It's Disney World out here!"
While Alan's estate isn't exactly have an amusement park, his 140-acre property does consist of an enclosed tennis court and basketball gym, a two-mile dirt track, four ponds, a swimming pool and a white sand beach. Also on the property are a red-roofed barn with an upstairs apartment and a log cabin.
Alan's wife, Denise, describes the house, which the couple began building in 1993, as "casual elegance." Alan affectionately calls the 26,500-square-foot mansion "Sweetbriar" and says it was inspired by the movie Gone With the Wind. Within its walls are spiral staircases, a glass-enclosed porch, an exercise room with nanny's quarters and a game room with a ping-pong table, air-hockey table and a bar area.
When asked about his favorite spot in the house, Alan said, "I like sitting on the back porch. Watching my kids ride all over the property with their friends and having bonfires back on the hill. That's what I enjoy more than anything."
