July 21, 2006--The Tennessean's Brad Schmitt reports that Grand Ole Opry star Porter Wagoner has moved out of the intensive care unit and into a regular room at a Nashville-area hospital, according to his daughter, Deborah Loy.
Porter, 78, had an aortic abdominal aneurism last Friday and underwent surgery to repair it. Deborah says Porter feels much better, and he was back to his old ways during the room transfer. "He hugged two nurses as he left, in a private room," she laughs. "He's getting along great. He's trying to talk me into helping him escape. We are thrilled."
Porter is expected to stay in the hospital for another week.
