November 27, 2006 --Wynonna and Dolly Parton are among the six nominees for the final ballot of The Tennessean's Tennessean of the Year 2006 award. The award is given to a person who has made exceptional contributions to the state during the year.
Wynonna was selected for helping to raise money for needy children. Among other activities, she and her friend Faith Hill anchored the "Divas Concert" to benefit the Oasis Center in April, raising more than $250,000 for the center to assist Nashville young people in crisis.
Dolly was chosen for her work in establishing the Imagination Library, which provides a free book monthly to youngsters 5 and under, in all of the state's 95 counties.
The winner will be announced on December 31.
