March 13, 2007 Trace Adkins, who has made a priority of sharing his time with our troops, will join a list of notables including Steven Spielberg, Elizabeth Taylor, Willie Nelson and Bob Hope when he receives the 2007 USO Merit Award. The USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) has announced that Trace will be honored at the 25th Annual USO-Metro Awards Dinner to be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Arlington, Va., on March 27.
Trace has traveled into combat zones with the USO to give concerts, sign autographs and mingle with the troops. He performed at the 2002 USO Gala in Washington, D.C., and was the headliner for the USO's first annual charity golf tournament. His dedication to U.S. troops even shines through in his music. In 2005, he paid tribute to our American heroes with the poignant ballad "Arlington."
"This is such an honor to be recognized by the USO," Trace said. "Whatever I do to show support to our troops is so small by comparison to what these men and women do for us. In fact, I'm not sure any of us can ever truly express how grateful we are for the men and women of the military who serve this country and put their lives on the line every day for our freedom."
