March 30, 2007 — When Brad and Kimberly Williams-Paisley first announced the name of their new son, everybody was asking, "Why Huckleberry?" Brad says one of his favorite books is Huckleberry Finn, and to him the baby's middle name signifies adventure.

Still, he tells Dial-Global that he had second thoughts about making the unusual name official. "I remember in the hospital we were getting ready to leave and if you don't write it on the sheet before you leave the hospital, then you have to go down to city hall and file it and wait in line and I didn't want to do that," he says. "So, I'm sitting there with the pen and I said, 'Am I really gonna name my kid Huckleberry?'"

Brad says Kimberly actually wanted the name even more than he did. "I said, 'Alright, fine.' We could have done William Warren, but that sounded like a Supreme Court judge, and I just loved the ring of William Huckleberry Paisley, so I wrote it on that sheet," he says. "I was nervous and I said, 'Keep this pen. This is a reminder to him, if he hates it, of the power of the pen. I changed his life when I wrote this down. It's a big deal."

Apparently, Brad's son has already been given a nickname. His bandmates say when the boy comes aboard the bus, he'll be known as "Huck."
