August 1, 2007 Jason Michael Carroll has a knack for turning his personal experiences into hit songs, and his current single, "Livin' Our Love Song," which he wrote with two of his bandmates while on the road, is no exception.
Jason tells Dial-Global that the song, which recently cracked the Top 25 on the country singles charts, is about his relationship with his fiancée, which began many years ago.
"I had my girlfriend's mom and dad come up and say, 'You know, this isn't working out,' " he says. "They didn't like the age difference and they said, 'Marry her or quit seeing her.' So I'm like, 'Okay, I'm almost 20 years old. I'm not ready for that, you know?' So I backed out and we both went our separate ways. Seven years later, she comes to a show and the very first song of our set that night was Kenny Chesney's 'Just Don't Happen Twice.' And so, here we are back together after seven years and we've been together almost three years now. So it's been an interesting ride."
