May 7, 2008 Rodney Atkins is the celebrity spokesman for the National Council for Adoption, a role that suits him well, given that he was adopted as a boy. Hes spoken highly of the couple that took him in, and its certain that Mothers Day means a lot to him because of their acceptance.
Rodney is currently working on the follow-up to his album If Youre Going Through Hell, and its likely that the CD will include a nod to his birth mother, though they dont really have a relationship.
"I never met her, dont want to necessarily," Rodney says. "She knows who I am. Ill just say thank you. But theres a song called Living Proof that mentions my birth mother. You just reach a point in your life, you kind of want to reference that, say thank you and move on."
No date has been set for the next albums release. In the meantime, hes released "Invisibly Shaken" as the fifth single from the album If Youre Going Through Hell. Each of the first four singles went all the way to No. 1.
