May 21, 2008 As a real-life cowboy who hosts his own team-roping championship annually, George Strait has a great appreciation for the men who take part in rodeos, and hes doing his share to help Justin Boots take care of people who are injured while participating in the sport professionally.
Since 1989, Justin has raised some $5.5 million for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, much of it through private donations. But some of it emanates from the sale of boots in the George Strait Collection. Last year, the charitable proceeds raised from Strait footwear came to more than $20,000.
"Rodeo cowboys are some of the best athletes in the world," George says. "I've spent a lot of years being a small part of the rodeo world, and it's a privilege to be able to help raise money and awareness for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund."
Georges affinity for the sport has certainly influenced his music. His rodeo-themed hits include "Amarillo By Morning" and "I Can Still Make Cheyenne."
