June 13, 2008 — Alison Krauss and Robert Plant did quite well with their duet album "Raising Sand," winning a Grammy award in February and picking up three nominations this week for the upcoming Americana Honors and Awards Show.
Their collaboration may not, however, end at just one album.
"I’m in no hurry to go anywhere," Robert told Billboard. "I want to stay very close. This is a [fount] of knowledge, and I’m sticking as close to it as I can."
They recorded Raising Sand with producer T Bone Burnett, best known for his work on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. T Bone’s also the musical director for their current tour.
"We’re all having a wonderful time," Alison agreed, "and I hope and I think all three of us are hoping to continue this and that it goes on and on."
Other than scheduling issues, that should not have any effect on Alison’s band, Union Station, or on the much-rumored — and much-denied — Led Zeppelin reunion tour.
"That doesn’t mean we’ve lost any love for who we’ve played for and play with," Alison noted. "The guys in Union Station — that’s like home. So I hope to continue this and go back home, too."
The tour takes them to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., on Sunday amidst a lineup that includes such divergent acts as country performer Pat Green, rock band Death Cab For Cutie, soul legend Solomon Burke and jam band Widespread Panic. Alison and Robert officially close their road run July 19 in Nashville, though they do plan a Sept. 27 appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and an Oct. 3 performance at San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass event.
