June 25, 2008 Faith Hill has been one of country musics top female vocalists for years, but she still feels like she needs to prove herself.
Thats been heightened in the last year or two by the influx of new female stars, particularly Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, whove both had multi-platinum successes and found themselves on some of the same lists such as People magazines Most Beautiful People that have frequently highlighted Faith.
She feels the competition, and she says she welcomes it.
"I'm still working towards finding what it is that really makes me feel like I've arrived," Faith told Dial-Global. "I've not found that yet. It's always inspiring just like a piece of art that you see on a wall I get inspired by that. I get inspired by everything I see. I loved Carrie Underwood's performance on the ACMs. I thought she was spunky and on fire, and then when Taylor Swift came out and ripped that suit off and the rain came down, I'm like, 'Whoooooo, that was awesome,' because it's true, you know. You want to see something fresh and different and exciting. You've got to keep people's interest up. And I applaud them for that. I really do."
Faiths interests of late include a Christmas album. Joy To The World will be released Sept. 16.
