July 7, 2008 — Keith Urban's publicist, Paul Freundlich, released the following statement this morning:

"Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning, July 7, 2008 in Nashville. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed 6 pounds, 7 1/2 ounces. Husband Keith was by Nicole's side and mother and baby are very well."

Baby watchers at Kenny Chesney’s Poets & Pirates tour stop in Nashville last Saturday had a hint that the little girl may be arriving soon. Keith dedicated "You’re My Better Half" to Nicole, saying she was "very, very pregnant." In fact, he said "very" about eight or nine times, suggesting that the couple’s baby could arrive just about any day.

People magazine reported that Nicole was backstage watching Keith’s performance, which ended roughly 36 hours before Sunday’s arrival.

The best unplanned moment from his concert set came during a song that might be harbinger of good things for his daughter. Keith performed one song accompanied only by acoustic guitar. At the time, a stray beach ball from the crowd had settled onto the stage no more than two feet to his left. But it wasn't a usual beach ball: It was solid yellow with a familiar smiley face. The song Keith was performing with the smile at his side is one that now contains his daughter’s name in the title: "Raining On Sunday."
