July 25, 2008 — When Sugarland recorded its third album, the duo decided to explore love and its multiple meanings.
That’s a big reason why the new CD, which was just released this week, is titled Love On The Inside. But there’s even more behind that moniker than one might expect at first glance.
"I think the interesting thing about naming it Love On the Inside is all the connotations that it does have," Kristian Bush said on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I love the obvious one, which is there's love on the inside of the disc when you open it up."
"Love on the inside of the disc, love on the inside of these songs," Jennifer Nettles added. "Love on the inside, hopefully, of the people who wrote them, and, hopefully, of the fan who is listening."
Apparently the love from the audience is pretty strong. Billboard indicates that Sugarland and Miley Cyrus, who released her new Breakout album the same day, are running neck and neck for the No. 1 slot next week on the all-genre album sales chart, The Billboard 200.
Sugarland is GAC’s Artist of the Month for July.
