Aug. 28, 2008 When the college football season kicks off on Saturday, viewers watching the Florida-Hawaii game on TV might hear the very familiar sounds of Rascal Flatts "Bob That Head." The song has been adapted for the opening montage of each weeks game delivered by the Raycom Sports syndication network, which presents ACC and SEC games in 2008.
"We cant think of anything more fun and exciting than mixing two of our favorite things music and football," lead singer Gary LeVox says.
The band, which also features guitarist Joe Don Rooney and bass player Jay DeMarcus, recorded rewritten versions of "Bob" to suit each broadcast, be it an SEC or ACC game. Its appropriate: Based in Nashville, the home of the Vanderbilt Commodores, Rascal Flatts lives in the heart of SEC territory. All three members, however, grew up in other regions. Gary and Jay are from Columbus, the base for the Big 10s Ohio State Buckeyes. Joe Don hails from Oklahoma, where the Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys are both members of the Big 12 conference.
Rascal Flatts and opening act Taylor Swift bring the Bob That Head Tour to three different Big East towns this weekend. They play Friday in Cincinnati, Saturday in Pittsburgh and Sunday in Syracuse.
