Sept. 9, 2008 Jessica Simpsons shift into country music has made her Do You Know album one of the most-talked-about projects of the year though not always in a glowing way.
Her image in the tabloids and her shift from pop have been met with plenty of skepticism, though many whove heard the CD with its title track written by Dolly Parton have had their views about Jessica softened. For her part, Jessica hopes that todays release will help people see her in a realistic, unfiltered way.
"I think that with this album people are just gonna get a lot of pieces of me and who I am," she told Dial-Global. "And hopefully they can take me off that tabloid pedestal and the celebrity pedestal and really be able to relate to me and see that I am human and I do go through things just like everybody else does."
Jessica did a huge publicity campaign that included the cover of People magazine last week and her debut on the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday. She also performed at Nashvilles Schermerhorn Symphony Center for an audience that included many of country musics behind-the-scenes tastemakers as well as fellow artist Kix Brooks.
