Nov. 19, 2008 Sarah Buxton got a huge amount of attention for writing the Keith Urban hit "Stupid Boy," and shes got another major artist in her sights as she works on her sophomore album.
She ran across former Alabama vocalist Randy Owen last week, and shes hoping theyll be able to collaborate on the project.
"He said he wanted to write, and Im thinkin about askin him to co-produce the record with me," she says. "Well see if he says yes."
Not every artist gets to produce his or her own project, and Sarahs record labels willingness to give her the reins demonstrates a huge belief in her.
"Ive always been very vocal about what I liked and what I didnt like," Sarah notes. "I think they know that when it comes to the creative side I may not have all the answers when it comes to the business aspect but when it comes to the creative side, Ive lived [in Nashville] 10 years, and Im very opinionated about what I like and what I dont like in music."
Its one of the few places in her life where Sarahs opinionated and consistent.
"As far as fashion, Im completely schizophrenic," she laughs. "As far as kinds of wine I like to drink and the kind of food I like to eat, Im schizophrenic, but when it comes to music, Im not schizophrenic at all. If I decide I like something, I always go with it."
Sarahs already released the first single from the upcoming album. Its titled "Space."
