Nov. 21, 2008 The Zac Brown Bands celebration of Southern life, "Chicken Fried," comes directly from Zac growing up in Georgia, and the single has found a home in the Top 5 on the national country singles charts.
Zac had always hoped to get his songs on the radio, but first he set up residence at the Dixie Tavern in Marietta, where he started a songwriting partnership with Wyatt Durrette.
"Its my home," Zac told The Atlanta Journal Constitution. "I met Wyatt. I met my wife. Ive met family and friends there."
It also served as a proving ground while the band honed its chops and got ready for a heavy tour schedule. The group performed as many as 250 shows annually for the last four years, and the stage has become just as comfortable for Zac as the all-American images in "Chicken Fried."
"I was put here to play music," he said. "Its just home to me behind a microphone."
ZBB toured recently with Los Lonely Boys. Among the other acts theyre set to work with are Keith Anderson, Little Big Town and Big & Rich. Watch the video for "Chicken Fried" now!
