Nov. 21, 2008 — Food is at the center of the coming season, and Ashton Shepherd takes viewers to her hometown of Leroy, Ala., to share in her family’s celebration on the GAC special Holidays At Home with Ashton Shepherd.

Ashton’s brother and husband are among the relatives who join her in cooking and eating such dishes as a broccoli casserole, chicken and dumplings and pecan pie in a day of revelry that also includes a round of archery and breaking out the music at pickin’ shed.

"When you’re 10 years old, you don’t realize how much things are really going to change," Ashton says. "You think they will always be the same. I lost my brother when I was 13 years old in a tragic car accident. I know he’d be here with bells on if he were still alive today to celebrate what we’re doing. So I would tell myself to spend more time with my family for that reason."

Holidays At Home features performances of "Sounds So Good," "I Ain’t Dead Yet" and "Pickin’ Shed," as well as Ashton’s first video, "Takin’ Off This Pain." The Thanksgiving special debuts Sunday, November 23 at 10 p.m. ET.
