Dec. 2, 2008 — "Mammas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" was never intended as a lullaby, but apparently it works as one. It’s the lead track on the upcoming Hushabye Baby: Lullaby Renditions Of Willie Nelson.
Due Jan. 27, it’s one in a trio of new Hushabye collections set for release in the first quarter of 2009. It will be followed Feb. 10 by two more nursery packages, highlighting the music of Vince Gill and Patsy Cline, in an ongoing series that makes honky-tonk sounds and country ballads suitable for the crib.
CMH Records has committed itself to the concept. Last month, Hushabye Baby issues explored the music of Johnny Cash, Carrie Underwood and George Strait. More packages are on the way with soothing baby-friendly revisions of songs by Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and Rascal Flatts.
