Jan. 6, 2009 One of the most honest and personal albums of 2008 belonged to Jamey Johnson, and its little surprise that That Lonesome Song ended up one of the favorite releases among critics.
In fact, the number of outlets that listed the disc among the best of projects of the year is staggering. His supporters included Rolling Stone, The Houston Chronicle, The New York Times, American Songwriter, The Dallas News, Spin, The Washington Post, The Nashville Scene, USA Today and Paste. And thats just a partial list.
"Thats humbling," Jamey says. "Its the best word I can use to describe it, is its humbling. We go around and play our shows for these audiences and when they start singing [the songs] back to us, its mesmerizing. Its like being in church and hearin the congregation singin your song back to you. Its somethin' that they really believe in, it hits em at a spiritual level. I cant say how much I appreciate that."
Jameys already begun work on a follow-up album. Meanwhile, "In Color" the first single from That Lonesome Song is currently ranked at No. 10 on the USA Today Mediabase country singles chart.
