May 14, 2009 Jason Michael Carroll titled his latest album Growing Up Is Getting Old, and as a result, hes been thinking quite a bit about the aging process.
He turns 31 next month, and with the birthday around the corner, hes a little surprised that he doesnt feel much different than he did in his teens.
"Honestly," he says, "I dont think Ive aged much. I still get carded when I ask for beer at a bar. And I think thats part of growin up, you know, is you dont realize that what people see is not who you are. You are the person that was havin fun when you were 18. You are that person still. It didnt change. Your lifestyle may have changed, but deep down, youre still that person."
Thats the theme of his current hit, "Where Im From," which ranks at No. 14 on the USA Today Mediabase country singles chart.
Jason will observe his birthday June 13 with a performance at Nashvilles Riverfront Park during the annual CMA Music Festival. Others on the bill that day will be Bill Anderson, Keith Anderson, Tracy Byrd, Emerson Drive, Lost Trailers, Jo Dee Messina, Lorrie Morgan and Chris Young.
