June 15, 2009 — Darius Rucker picked up the opening slot on Rascal Flatts’ current American Living Unstoppable Tour, which opened just 10 days ago, and after the first few dates, he’s already convinced that the summer will be everything he had in mind.

"Before I started this tour," he told told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville, "I said that I was really looking forward to playing in front of that many people and playing with those guys, but something that I was really looking forward to was just getting to know them, because they seemed like cool guys, like nice guys. The first night we finish, we go in their dressing room, we’re just sitting there, and I think Jay [DeMarcus] and I talked for two and a half hours. We sat and we talked about our wives and our families and working and jobs, and I hung with Gary [LeVox] a lot, and then the next day we played golf with Joe Don [Rooney]. It’s already exactly what I wanted, you know? And it’s one of those tours where I’m just excited to be out there, but I’m also excited because I know I’m hanging out with three guys that are gonna be really good friends of mine."

Rascal Flatts and Darius will share the stage with Clay Walker Saturday when they play the third night of the Apple River Country Splash in Somerset, Wis. According to Pollstar, the previous two evenings feture Travis Tritt, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Jason Michael Carroll.
