Each week country music expert Neil Haislop answers your questions!
Q: Do you have any information about tour dates for Jamey Johnson? I would love to see this guy in concert, but I can't find any show dates!
(Joe, Booneville, MS)
A: Joe, at this point Jamey Johnson doesnt have any dates set for the rest of this year. Hes still a busy, sought-after songwriter, and since he hasnt had a list of breakthrough hits, he might wait until 2009 to schedule any tours or open spots with other artists, after hes gotten some momentum as a singer.
Q: Who was the star that played in Trace Adkins "Muddy Water" video?
(Brenda, Danville, WA)
A: Brenda, the actor you see in the video is Stephen Baldwin, who appeared with Trace on "Celebrity Apprentice," where they became friends.
Q: Will Lari White ever release another country album? She seems to have disappeared from the music scene ever since Stepping Stone was released 10 years ago.
(Corey, Keyser, WV)
A: Corey, Lari White can still sing great, but these days shes so busy as a songwriter and record producer, it may be a while before she turns the spotlight back on herself. Recently, Lari produced Toby Keith's album, White Trash With Money.
Q: Will Carrie Underwood release another single off her current CD? If so, when and which song do you think it will be?
(Tom, Sallisaw, OK)
A: Tom, "Just A Dream" was the fourth single from Carnival Ride, but we dont know if its the last from it yet. That song has peaked, so there could be an announcement of a new single any time now. But, they have the option of releasing more from the current album, or waiting until theyre ready to release her first song from next CD.
Q: I love country music and I am a member of our country music club here in New Zealand. I would love to go to the Grand Ole Opry to see the show. Also, there is one lady I would love to meet and that is Dolly Parton. Would that be possible? Are there good motels near the Grand Ole Opry and country western shows?
(Glenys, Waikato, UT, New Zealand)
A: Glenys, first we would welcome your visit from so far away. Also, trying to time your visit to when Dolly Parton might appear on the Grand Ole Opry might be difficult. But, you can check into grandoleopry.com to find whos coming to the Opry and when ? and check out their "Trip Planner" section.
Otherwise, if you just want to get your fill of a lot of big country stars, visit the Country Music Association site, cmaworld.com, and go to the CMA's Country Music Festival page. There are country music activities all over Nashville for a week in June, including shows at the site of the original Opry, the Ryman Auditorium; and plenty of opportunities to meet country stars. Also, there are many hotels near the Grand Ole Opry house or close to downtown, whatever you decide to do.
