Rhinestone Shrine

Quintessential Experiences: Country Music Hall of Fame

Modern country music has humble origins in the folk traditions of 19th-century America, but there's nothing humble about this magnificent $37 million glass, limestone and painted brick shrine unveiled in May 2001 to replace the original building on Music Row.

The 135,000 square foot facility houses a large rotunda where hall of famers are enshrined, as well as a fascinating country music museum. Two floors of the museum are devoted to a permanent exhibition of photographs, artifacts, musical recordings, archival video, documentary films and interactive multimedia displays tracing the evolution of the art form. The museum also hosts live musical performances, film presentations and other special events.

Admission to the museum is $17.95 for adults, $9.95 for youths and free for children age 5 and under. Discounts are available for college students, seniors, military and AAA members. Pay extra for the "Platinum Package" and you'll also get to visit RCA Studio B, a historic Music Row recording studio where Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins, Eddy Arnold and other musical giants recorded some of their greatest hits.
