January 22, 2008 — Dave Robbins played his final show as a member of BlackHawk Friday at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon, a date that marked the end of a successful 15-year run.

With sing-along choruses and strong harmonies, the trio was a constant presence on country radio during the 1990s through such hits as "Goodbye Says It All," "There You Have It" and "I’m Not Strong Enough To Say No."

Leaving the group "has not been an easy decision nor a hasty one," Dave wrote on the band’s website. "I have been thinking about it for some time and praying about it daily."

Dave has signed a songwriting contract with a Platinum Pen, a Nashville music publishing company, and he plans to start pitching material to other acts. It’s a role he knows well: Prior to joining BlackHawk, he wrote Restless Heart’s "Bluest Eyes In Texas" and "Big Dreams In A Small Town," plus hits recorded by Janie Fricke and Kenny Rogers.

Original member Henry Paul plans to keep BlackHawk intact. The group’s other founder, Van Stephenson, died in 2000.
