Time Flies is an eleven song collection featuring one song co-written by Montgomery, "Brothers Till the End." According to Montgomery the album was aptly named becoming a sort of retrospective look at his career.

"I took themes from different eras of my career along with sounds that influenced me over my life to create this album. There are the serious songs, some with tongue-in-cheek humor, a little romance as well as some that reflect a philosophical side. You’ll hear influences from the Eagles to Lionel Richie to traditional country."

With a musical career that spans nine studio albums and three greatest hits packages, John Michael’s contribution to the country music format includes hits such as "I Swear," "Be My Baby Tonight," "I Can Love You Like That," "Sold (the Grundy County Auction Incident)" and "Life’s A Dance," among many others. He’s earned 15 number one singles, sold over 16 million albums, enjoyed cross-over success in the pop and R&B market, and received numerous industry and fan-voted awards, including CMA Awards, ACM Awards and American Music Awards. His last single at radio, "Letters from Home," (2004) reached #2 on Billboard’s Country Singles chart. Montgomery works with booking agency Buddy Lee Attractions and continues to tour heavily.

That's my little strange sense of humor going on. This takes me back to those long nights of partying in the night clubs. I just thought it was funny, especially the Mel Tillis part, and I like a little humor on every album.

I think that's just John Michael from one end of the spectrum to the other. It's got a good story line and it definitely hits home with me. It was something we cut on the last session and I knew it had to be a single.

I would have to say that is pure power ballad, pure John Michael. It chases both sides--the sensitive side and that rock side. I think the thing just rocks, and I expect that one to be a single as well.
