May 9, 2007 — Joe Nichols visited Nashville's Hunter's Lane High School yesterday to deliver a $5,000 grant from the Grammys for the school to buy some guitars for its music program.

Nashville's WKRN reports that Joe felt the school memories come flooding back when he entered the building. "Hey, I'm 30 years old," he joked. "It's only been five, six years ago I left high school."

Joe wore a hat to Hunter's Lane, a dress-code infraction, but he explained that he had just come over from the studio and had "extreme hat hair," so he couldn't take it off.

Joe also later told the kids one of the good things about his job: "I can wear this every day."
