March 3, 2009 In March last year, Randy Travis was on hand to invite Carrie Underwood to join the Grand Ole Opry when she sang his song "I Told You So" on the venerable radio show. Since that time, Carries released the ballad as a single, and now Randys making his original recording the title of a two-disc compilation, I Told You So: The Ultimate Hits of Randy Travis.
That news comes in a week when both singers are scheduled to appear on GACs Opry Live.
Randys album, slated for release March 17, features a whopping 32 tracks, including a new single "Turn It Around," originally released on last summers Around The Bend album and two previously unreleased recordings, "You Aint Right" and "Loves Alive And Well." Of course, it also serves up a ton of his hits, such as "On The Other Hand," "Forever And Ever, Amen," "Three Wooden Crosses" and "Its Just A Matter Of Time."
"I've always loved Randy Travis," Carrie told Dial-Global. "He's got such a distinct voice. When I was very young, I didn't know who he was or what he looked like, but I could pick out his voice. 'Cause it's very memorable, and I knew all the words. I had the cassettes, and I think for some reason he kind of reminds me of my dad."
Carrie is set to appear on the cover of Country Weekly when the next edition arrives on newsstands on Monday. In the meantime, shell join Luke Bryan, Montgomery Gentry and the Oak Ridge Boys on Saturdays edition of Opry Live, beginning at 9 p.m. ET on GAC. Randy is featured Tuesday in an encore edition of Opry Live, also at 9 p.m. ET, with Randy Houser, Kevin Costner and Billy Currington.
