July 13, 2006--According to X Radio, Kenny Rogers recently made a surprise visit to a fan on his birthday. Scott Cruce, who is blind, has what experts say is perfect pitch. His passion for music started when he was only seven years old, and his inspiration and idol was Kenny Rogers. In elementary school, Scott sent a letter in Braille to Kenny in an attempt to meet him.
Within weeks, he got a reply and an invitation to Kenny's home and to a movie set. Other visits followed, but eventually Scott and Kenny lost touch. Now, more than 20 years later, Scott's mother, Wanda Sandels, reunited Kenny and her son as a surprise for his 30th birthday. Sandels shares, "I thought it would be such a great idea to hook Scott back up with him because he was such an inspiration in Scott's life because of the music. Now, Scott is a singer in a group and I think a lot of that started from listening to Kenny Rogers." And thanks to the aid from an Atlanta TV station--WXIA--the two were recently reunited at Kennys concert in Atlanta.
