September 13, 2006--Rascal Flatts visited the Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt yesterday and performed a short acoustic set for approximately 35 children and their families in the Childrens Theater. The kids were also treated to visits by several Disney characters--Cinderella, Mickey & Minnie and Snow White--thanks to Rascal Flatts' record label Lyric Street Records, whose parent company is Disney.
"For a couple of years, we were searching for something to give our hearts and souls to," said lead singer Gary LeVox. "With the hospital in our own backyard, it allows us to give more." Joe Don Rooney added, "We could never do enough. It makes us feel better about ourselves to help and giveback; something good we can do with our celebrity."
After singing to the kids, Gary, Jay & Joe Don visited and took pictures with each of the children in the party and then spent time visiting patients who could not attend in their hospital rooms.
Rascal Flatts will donate proceeds from their upcoming September 22 concert in Nashville at the Gaylord Entertainment Center to the Childrens Hospital. Last year, the band donated $600,000 dollars from their 2005 benefit concert and hopes are to increase the donation this year.
