Brooks & Dunn Feeling the Competition

September 25, 2006--In 1991 they were a brand new duo singing about a "Brand New Man." Since then, Brooks & Dunn have sold more than 25 million albums, put a ton of "butts in the seats" at their shows, and won more top awards than any other duo in the history of country music. X Radio asked the duo what changes in the music business they've noticed, and what have they done to keep up with those changes. "We treat it the same way," says Ronnie. "We hustle for good songs and try to make the show as good as we can every year. I think probably that the biggest realistic element is the fact that they’re [the new acts] getting younger. They’re working out."

"There seems to be a freshness and some energy," adds Kix. "I feel the cycle coming back around and the challenge for us is to be in it again. Like Ronnie says, hopefully make the best music we can. But that early '90s surge, those are the acts that are still headlining. It’s obvious that at some point our industry needs a new group to pop and to get rockin’. We just hope they don’t run by us too fast."
