October 18, 2006--X Radio reports that last night ABCs Dancing With The Stars aired a pre-taped segment with Sara Evans so she could explain why she left the show. She began by confessing that she is in shock, noting that she is completely against divorce. As expected, Sara did not go into detail about her allegations against her estranged husband, Craig Schelske.
She revealed that the decision to file for divorce had been in motion previously but she planned to take it very slowly; however, last Tuesday afternoon she got the report that documented what was found on her husbands computer. Sara went ahead and performed on Dancing With The Stars that night, but says after the results show last Wednesday night, something "personal" and "very traumatic" happened.
"It was very hard on my children. Things drastically went downhill a hundred miles an hour," said Sara, and she became concerned about the emotional welfare of her kids. "I just needed to take care of my children and I knew that," she continued. "I knew that nothing in my career, no television show--nothing--is more important than that."
Sara admits it has been "horrific" that this is all over the Internet. She is ready to just get back home to cook, clean and be a mom. She's grateful for the outpouring of love from the fans, her friends and people all over the world and shared, "I believe with my whole heart that I was on the show in the midst of this time for a reason, and I have felt so much love and support from the fans. I will never forget it. I will never forget every second of this experience and I just want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart and I will come back for the finale."
Her dance partner, Tony Dovolani, joined Sara for the last portion of the interview, and Sara said she felt horrible for taking him out of the competition, but Tony expressed that she made the right decision. The two will work together again as Sara has asked Tony to choreograph her tour for next year. She is not expected to give any other interviews for a while.
In related news, Sara Evans longtime friend and former nanny weighed in on accusations that she had an affair with Saras estranged husband. "I am crushed," Alison Clinton said in a statement. "I thought Sara was my friend. I have never been anything but loyal to her and her family. I cannot understand this, but now I am forced to clear my name in order to preserve the best possible future for me and my family."
Clinton has offered to take a lie-detector test and sign an affidavit denying the allegation. She is demanding a retraction and threatening to sue. Sara was Clinton's matron of honor at her recent wedding and had rehired Clinton as her personal assistant and fan club co-president.
