November 29, 2006Having survived a tough year, including a bout of pneumonia and a fractured right wrist suffered in a fall, George Jones has set a full schedule for 2007.
Tjames Madison reports in LiveDaily that George just finished up a November run of dates and will next tackle a Dec. 1 appearance in Vinton, LA., backing his October release, God's Country, a tribute album of sorts. The disc features an all-star lineup performing many of George's classic numbers, and also features the singer himself appearing on two songs: the album's title track, which he wrote, and a duet with Garth Brooks.
"Nobody in the world can sing like him," says Vince Gill, who also appears on the album. "It's like trying to cover The Beatles."
Other performers on the set include Sammy Kershaw, Pam Tillis and Tanya Tucker.
