December 11, 2006 — Country great Faron Young was honored yesterday in his hometown of Shreveport, La., with a place on the Walk of Stars at the Municipal Auditorium, original home of the "Louisiana Hayride."

The nationally-broadcast "Hayride" show helped launch the careers of, among others, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley and Webb Pierce.

Faron made his first solo appearance on the Hayride in 1951 at the age of 19. Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of his death.
