Stars Contribute To Country Cookbook

December 20, 2006 — "A Country Music Christmas," a collaboration between Edie Hand and her longtime friend, the late veteran producer Buddy Killen, is full of holiday recipes from more than 65 country and gospel music artists.

The stars describe in their own words their childhood memories and favorite ways of celebrating the holiday. Dolly Parton and Billy Ray Cyrus recall how upbringings like theirs — poor in terms of money, but rich in terms of love — resulted in some of the happiest Christmas memories they have. Tim McGraw, Tanya Tucker and Clint Black describe how they discover anew the magic of Christmas through their children's eyes.

Some of the recipes include Barbara Mandrell's Christmas turkey, Alan Jackson's cornbread stuffing, John Michael Montgomery's wild goose with currant sauce, Charlie Daniels's sugar cookies and Naomi Judd's miniature fruitcakes.

A percentage of the proceeds will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Country Music Hall of Fame and other charities, including sending Christmas trees to soldiers in Iraq.
