January 3, 2007 Jimmy Buffett's latest album Take The Weather With You has been certified gold by the RIAA and is his second consecutive No. 1 debut album on the Billboard Country chart. The album, which sold more than 120,000 copies in its first week, also debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
The CD combines a variety of styles and sounds from Nashville, New Orleans and Key West. After recording more than 40 albums, Jimmy returns again to his country foundation with breezy ballads, interpretations of alt-country songs, a version of Merle Haggard's "Silver Wings" and mariachi horns in "Cinco De Mayo In Memphis."
The album also includes "Bama Breeze," a tribute to the historic bars along the Gulf Coast as well as a take on Mary Gauthier's "Wheel Inside The Wheel" with swampy rhythms crafted by Lafayette, La., slide guitarist Sonny Landreth. Deeply affected by Hurricane Katrina, Jimmy takes a philosophical look at the devastation of New Orleans in the ballad "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On," which he wrote with former drummer Matt Betton.
