January 19, 2007 — Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown has moved from the spotlight to the background these days. As The Tennessean reports, now instead of talking to the press, he quietly stands in the background as producer of former "American Idol" contestant Bucky Covington.

"I've actually never been real comfortable with the red carpet, so this is great," Mark says. "Probably for me, I am more comfortable in this role."

Mark still performs about 80 shows each year with Sawyer Brown, while he spends the rest of the time producing the Christian group Casting Crowns, which is on his label, and now Bucky. He says Sawyer Brown will likely record a new album later this year.

"It wasn't anything that was intentional, but it's starting definitely to be a new phase and something I'm enjoying a lot," he says of his change in career direction. "I'm really enjoying just being in the studio and working with the new artists. I'm getting to relive a little bit of our early success with Bucky."
