Rodney Atkins' Son Steals Spotlight

February 7, 2007 — Rodney Atkins continues to keep a stronghold on the top of the country singles charts with his huge hit "Watchin' You." The catchy tune remains in the No. 1 spot on both the Mediabase and R&R charts for a fourth consecutive week. If you've seen Rodney's video for the song, you've gotten a glimpse of the new star in the family, Rodney's son Elijah.

"He's funny," Rodney tells Dial-Global. "He's pretty hilarious; he's a comic. I talked to him. I was like, 'Are you sure you want to be in this video?' He knows the song's about him because he said all that stuff. He can sing 'Watchin' You' pretty good."

Rodney says Elijah has a message for his new fans. "He's already committed to the little girl that lives across the street, so he wanted to make that clear."

Rodney admits he was a little concerned no one would pay attention to the song since his son is in the video. He points out it's never a good idea to co-star with kids or animals.
