February 12, 2007 — The Dixie Chicks won Grammy Awards in all five categories they were nominated in last night at the 49th annual Grammy Awards show. The Texas trio won all the biggest categories, including Record and Song of the Year for "Not Ready to Make Nice" and Album of the Year for Taking the Long Way. They also won the Country Album and Country Performance by a Duo or Group awards.

The Associated Press reports that Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines couldn't resist the rich irony of winning the Grammy Award for Best Country Album. "That's interesting," she said. "Well, to quote the great `Simpsons': heh-heh."

Later in the show, Natalie exclaimed "I'm ready to make nice!" as the group accepted the Album of the Year award.
