Angela Hacker (l) reacts to winning "Nashville Star" just after co-hosts Jewel and Cowboy Troy announced her name.
March 2, 2007 It came down to brother and sister Angela and Zac Hacker during last night's "Nashville Star" finale, but Angela ultimately took home the grand prize, a record deal with Warner Bros. Nashville and a Chevrolet Silverado.
"Obviously I'm excited. It's so overwhelming that I don't really know what emotion to feel," Angela told The Tennessean. After accepting the keys to her new truck, she broke into "Sweet Home Alabama" in tribute to her hometown of Florence, Ala. "Everybody was happy and everybody was jumping around and I was too," she said. "I just wanted to savor the moment."
The siblings went head-to-head after the announcement that third runner-up David St. Romain, a Baton Rouge, La., native, had been eliminated from the competition. The Hackers then performed the Black Crowes' "Hard to Handle" together. But in the end Jewel and co-host Cowboy Troy revealed that America had chosen Angela to join past "Nashville Star" winners Buddy Jewell, Brad Cotter, Erika Jo and Chris Young.
As for brother Zac, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Angela predicts her win will be beneficial for both of them. "I really want to do something with Zac," she said. "We talked about this and we want to be together as artists, so I think that he's happy. I know he wanted to win and I would have been happy for him if he'd won, and I think he's going to be just fine."
