March 8, 2007 The CMA Songwriters Series in New York City kicks off its third year with two performances on March 29 at Joe's Pub. The shows feature some of Nashville's most celebrated songwriters in intimate, stripped-down sets, taking turns telling the stories behind their hit songs and performing them as originally written
The March 29 pair of shows, the first of four that will take place in the coming months, will salute the men of country music. Songwriters scheduled to appear include Keith Anderson ("Pickin' Wildflowers," "Podunk"); Bob DiPiero ("Blue Clear Sky" by George Strait, "World's Apart" by Brooks & Dunn); Tony Mullins ("Me and My Gang" by Rascal Flatts, "How Forever Feels" by Kenny Chesney); Jeffrey Steele ("What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts, "My Town" by Montgomery Gentry); and Craig Wiseman ("Believe" by Brooks & Dunn, "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw, "The Good Stuff" by Kenny Chesney).
"The key to the Songwriters Series at Joe's Pub in NYC has been the performances themselves," songwriter and CMA board member Bob DiPiero said. "Each show is unrehearsed and strictly one of a kind. Stories are shared, musical interplay is of the highest quality and the songs shine like diamonds. The Joe's Pub audience is getting to see the best songwriters Nashville has to offer, who also happen to be great entertainers, performing at their peak."
