Angela Hacker (l) reacts to winning "Nashville Star" just after co-hosts Jewel and Cowboy Troy announced her name.
April 2, 2007 When Angela Hacker beat her brother, Zac, in the "Nashville Star" finals, she landed a Warner Bros. contract and headlining tour but she's not leaving Zac behind.
Angela, whose album The Winner Is..., will be released tomorrow, tells The Tennessean that her next album will be a joint project with Zac. The two also will tour together with the 2007 "Nashville Star" Tour that begins in July. Third and fourth place finishers David St. Romain and Joshua Stevens will also be on the tour, along with John Bohlinger and the Nashville Star Band.
"We're going to work together as a duo," Angela says. "The label didn't approach us about that; we approached them about it," she says. "The reason why we would like to do that is because we've sang together for years and we have sibling harmony and we like singing together."
Angela says she and Zac aren't ruling out the possibility of solo careers later on. "But this opportunity is here, this record deal," she says. "I really wanted to do it with Zac, just because I feel like you have the best of both worlds. There are a lot of people who like Zac, too. The only reason that will change is if one of us decides to back out. The record label is ll for it."
Loyalty seems to run in the family. Angela reveals she shares a bloodline with Elvis Presley, who was famous for loving his mother. "We're third or fourth cousins," she says.
