April 10, 2007 — Vince Gill says there's no sound as sweet as family members singing together, and his duet with daughter Jenny on "A River Like You" from his These Days album is a perfect example.

Vince tells CMA Close Up that when he heard the blend of their voices on the song he wrote 22 years ago, it brought a tear to his eye.

"Something happens when people of the same blood sing together," he says. "Jenny really got to shine and I can't even describe how much that really undid me — to hear those two voices shake in exactly the same way — wow."

The project was a family affair in more ways than one, with wife Amy Grant lending her vocals as well. Vince says a duet on Amy's last album helped him loosen up vocally on this one.

"Singing 'Rock of Ages' on Amy's last record, I felt the urge to let loose," he says. "There was this peace of just freeing myself and letting go. I said, 'Let's leave no stone unturned. If the amp needs to go to 12, turn it to 12,' and it was very freeing."
