April 24, 2007 Anyone who wants to know what life is really like for touring artists on the road should check out Blake Shelton's videos on YouTube.com.
One of the installments posted on the site shows Blake washing his hair in the tiny bathroom sink on the bus, pleading for fans to send in donations so the guys can get a shower for their home on wheels. Another shows Blake having a bad hair day and getting even with the sleeping guitar player who had been making fun of him. In one adventure, Blake rolls a friend off a truck ramp in a plastic barrel.
Blake tells Dial-Global that he didn't even know what YouTube was when his record label first gave him a video camera to submit clips to the popular website. "Now it's turned into a huge outlet for me, and if we didn't have that going I'd probably go crazy because I'm having so much fun with this little camera out on the road," he says. "I think I could be up for an Academy Award for my hair washing," he jokes. "I do my own stunts. I want you to know that it's not a stand-in."
