May 2, 2007 — Lonestar, Clay Walker and Tanya Tucker are encouraging their fellow Texans to Thank-a-Teacher through a series of radio public service announcements. The artists are joining Friends of Texas Public Schools for the statewide campaign, which invites people to write thank-you letters to their favorite teachers in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Month.

The organization's vice-president says the goal is to get 10,000 letters mailed to teachers to show them that "this job is worth it." Anyone whose teacher is retired, no longer living or cannot be reached can write to their children's favorite teachers, local newspapers and TV stations.
