May 11, 2007 Mother's Day will be especially meaningful for Terri Clark this year, as her mom is recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in her abdomen.
Terri tells Dial-Global she's thankful to be getting to spend another Mother's Day with her. "She's probably the closest person on earth to me, and it would have been a devastating thing to have lost her this soon," she says. "She's only 57, so it would have been a real life-changing thing for me, for sure. I'm trying to really focus on all the blessings and just keep looking forward to all the good stuff and that she's here and survived it. They got it all out and she's just healing from this major surgery now. She's not eating much, so I'll send her flowers, not the edible kind. She's not digesting so well yet," she laughs.
Terri will officially kick off this year's CMA Music Festival in downtown Nashville with a performance on the Riverfront Stage June 7, and she says opening "Fan Fair" will be special for her. "I remember playing for tips down on Lower Broadway, and seeing how excited the fans were and that was just so contagious," she says. "And there were a couple years I even got passes and got to stand in line and get my share of autographs. So to me, being asked by the CMA to open Music Festival is a real thrill. I know how long people save to get here for this, and I know they come ready to have a good time."
