June 12, 2007 Toby Keith's Big Dog Daddy, which drops today, is the first album he's produced all by himself, and he tells Dial-Global that producing is something he's always wanted to do.
"I think the only reason I haven't done it till now is 'cause there's nobody to cuss if it doesn't work," he jokes. "This time, I just toughed it out. I just went in, I said, 'You know what? I don't wanna look back three years from now when these singles are done and go, 'I wish that harmony would have done this' or 'I wish that guitar lick would have finished the line.' Everything about this is has got my fingerprint all over it."
Toby handled every detail on the new CD, down to singing all the background vocals. He will perform tonight on "The Tonight Show," kicking off a weeklong string of promotional appearances including "The Tavis Smiley Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Up shortly after that are performances on "The View," and CBS' "Early Show," as well as appearances on "The Big Story with John Gibson," "The Colbert Report," "Glenn Beck," "Nightline" and "Extra."
