June 18, 2007 — Billy Currington says his bus has been loaded up with tons of "doggie bones and doggie balls and that sort of stuff" ever since his fans found out he bought a new chocolate lab puppy.
Billy tells Dial-Global that he took his time when shopping for the pooch, named Paco, and thinks he's found the perfect road companion. "I researched the Internet for about a year and I finally found this one website that bred beautiful show dogs," he says. "He was just warm when I saw him. He was like three weeks old, four weeks old, and when you look in their eyes, you just know that's your dog."
Billy says he's training Paco himself and he's amazed at the pup's intelligence. "Chocolate labs are the No. 1 breed of dog in the world, and they're all just super smart and bred that way. So he does it all on his own, really."
Billy adds that even though Paco is a show dog, he doesn't plan to enter him in any competitions, simply because he doesn't have time.
