July 6, 2007 Cole Deggs of Cole Deggs and the Lonesome has been honing his songwriting skills since he was a child.
Cole tells icebergradio.com that his early inspirations were anything and everything. "I actually wrote my first song on the piano when I was about seven," he says. "It was called 'Car Horns.' It was horrible. And then when I got to about 14, I started playing the guitar a lot. And when I started playing guitar, it came real natural to write songs melodies were in my head and I just kind of started singing."
Cole says once he started writing songs, he found inspiration in some pretty unlikely places. "I'd write about a Kroger sack or a box of cinnamon. I'd write about anything."
Cole and his band's debut single, "I Got More," is a Top 30 hit and climbing on the country charts. The group's self-titled debut album will arrive in stores on July 10.
